It is non-technical, though crampons and an ice axe are required. With our climbing guide and acclimatization schedule, the summit day feels steady and safe.
You trek with local guides and porters who know the terrain and weather patterns. On the climbing section, you are led by an experienced climbing leader with peak experience in the Kanchenjunga region.
We select family-run lodges that offer clean rooms, good hygiene, and hearty meals. Hot tea and soup after a long day in remote mountains always feels rewarding.

Kanchenjunga is a restricted area, so you need both a Restricted Area Permit and a Kanchenjunga Conservation Area Permit. These are issued by Nepal’s Department of Immigration and the Conservation Authority. We handle the permits for you before the trek.
The best months are spring (April–May) and autumn (October–November). During these periods, the weather is more stable, the skies are clear, and mountain views are at their best.
It is a challenging trek with a non-technical 6215m peak climb. Good physical fitness and some prior high-altitude trekking experience are recommended. The trek includes long walking days, steep sections, and summit day starts early in the morning.
No prior climbing experience is required. The climb is non-technical, and our climbing guide teaches basic snow and ice techniques. You should be comfortable walking with crampons and using an ice axe.
The full itinerary is usually 20 days, including trekking, acclimatization, and the peak summit attempt. It can vary slightly depending on group pace and weather conditions.
Most trekkers fly from Kathmandu to Bhadrapur, then take a road transfer to Taplejung. From Taplejung, the trek begins. Domestic flights can be booked through your trekking agency.
You should have routine vaccinations (tetanus, hepatitis A/B, typhoid, etc. Not mandoratory by Ggoverment). High-altitude insurance is mandatory and should cover emergency helicopter evacuation and medical costs. Travel insurance should also cover trekking and non-technical climbing up to 6,215 meters.
Daily trekking is typically 6–8 hours, with a few longer days. Summit day is the most demanding. We maintain a steady pace with regular breaks to help with acclimatization.
Bring warm layers, down jacket, waterproof shell, gloves, hat, trekking boots, sunglasses, and sunscreen. Group climbing gear such as ropes, ice axes, and crampons are provided. Your guide will also provide a full gear checklist.
Safety is a priority. We follow a gradual acclimatization schedule, monitor weather and altitude, carry first-aid and communication devices, and have trained staff for emergencies. Summit attempts are always guided.
Lower villages offer charging and sometimes Wi-Fi for a small fee. Hot showers are available in some lodges. Higher altitude lodges and base camps are basic with limited electricity, so carrying a power bank is recommended.
Yes. Solo travelers can join scheduled group departures or request a private trip. We try to match solo trekkers with other groups for safety and companionship.
